Virat Chauhan, a Class 6 student, collapsed while batting near his house at Sahara village in the Bichwa area. According to eyewitnesses, the boy was playing normally with his friends when his bat suddenly slipped from his hands. He fell to the ground and lost consciousness within seconds.

Sudden collapse during game

Villagers said Virat had been cheerful moments earlier, enjoying the match and chatting with his friends while waiting for his turn to bat. One resident recalled that nothing appeared unusual until he suddenly collapsed on the field.

Family members and villagers immediately rushed him to the district hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. The sudden nature of the incident has raised concerns among residents, particularly as the boy was considered healthy and active.

Family suspects cardiac issue

Virat’s uncle, Rajesh Singh, said the boy had complained of pain in his left arm and neck while playing. Based on these symptoms, the family suspects that he may have suffered a heart-related medical emergency.

The chief medical superintendent of the district hospital, Dr Dharmendra Singh, confirmed that the family declined a post-mortem examination and took the body from the emergency ward. As a result, the exact cause of death has not been medically confirmed.

Village mourns young cricketer

Village head Sughar Singh said Virat was passionate about cricket and played regularly with his friends, especially on Sundays. “The entire village is shaken by this sudden loss. It is heartbreaking to see such a young life end so abruptly,” he said.

The incident has sparked discussions among residents about the need for greater awareness of sudden medical emergencies among children and adolescents, even during routine physical activities.
