A tragic incident occurred on Thursday night in Marutham Nagar near Saravanampatti, Coimbatore, where a 14-year-old boy, S Krithik, collapsed and died while practising soccer at an academy.
Krithik, a resident of Sreevatsa Garden in Thudiyalur, had recently completed Class IX at Manchester International School and was set to begin Class X. He had been training for years at the First Kick School of Soccer Academy.
According to police, Krithik had begun his regular training session at 6 pm, accompanied by his father Senthil, 44. At around 7.45 pm, he suddenly collapsed on the turf. He was rushed to a private hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The Saravanampatti police have registered a case and sent the body to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) for postmortem. Officials stated that the exact cause of death would be known only after the autopsy.
This marks the second child fatality in Saravanampatti within 24 hours, following the unrelated death of an eight-year-old boy after consuming hotel food.
