18 Coaches of Howrah-CSMT Express Derail in Jharkhand

Jharkhand: A tragic train accident occurred on Tuesday, July 30, when 18 coaches of the Howrah-CSMT Express (train number 12810) derailed, resulting in the deaths of two people and injuries to 50 others. The derailment happened around 4 a.m. between Rajkharsawan and Badabambo stations, approximately 80 km from Jamshedpur, in the Chakradharpur railway division.

Rescue and relief operations are underway, with railway teams actively working at the accident site. Many injured passengers have been taken to nearby hospitals. Senior officials from the Chakradharpur railway division and a relief train have arrived to assist with the situation.

Aditya Kumar Choudhary, the Senior DCM of Chakradharpur Division, confirmed the incident. The Seraikela district administration reported that the two deceased passengers have been identified, and the injured are being transported by buses to medical facilities.

Train services on the Tatanagar-Chakradharpur section of the South Eastern Railway have been suspended due to the accident. Several trains have been canceled, and some are being rerouted.

Efforts to remove the derailed coaches and rescue trapped passengers are ongoing, using cranes and other machinery. Most passengers were asleep when the accident occurred, causing panic as the train jolted and coaches derailed. Many passengers on upper berths fell, and luggage was scattered.
