A 22-year-old man has been arrested in northeast Delhi for allegedly performing dangerous motorcycle stunts and opening the doors of moving vehicles, including a DTC bus, to film social media reels, police said on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Tushar Puniya, a resident of Khajuri Khas, was traced after a video of the incident went viral online.
Viral video leads to arrest
According to police, the clip that surfaced on February 16 showed the biker riding without a registration number plate and weaving through traffic. He was seen abruptly opening the doors of vehicles in motion, endangering passengers and other road users.
Taking cognisance of the viral video, a case was registered at New Usmanpur police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act.
Motorcycle seized, probe underway
Police said the accused had deliberately removed the registration plate to avoid identification while carrying out the stunt. A team examined CCTV footage and analysed the viral reel before apprehending him. The motorcycle used in the act has been seized.
Delhi Police stated that strict action would continue against those violating traffic rules for online attention.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain whether the accused was involved in similar reckless incidents in the past.
