In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old man named Vivek Gupta was brutally murdered by unidentified assailants in the Sion Koliwada area of Mumbai early Friday morning. The Antop Hill police have since detained five individuals in connection with the crime.

The altercation reportedly began around 12:30 a.m. in Maharashtra Nagar, Kokri Agar, where Gupta was celebrating with friends by bursting firecrackers. One of the accused allegedly asked them to move their activities to a more secluded area, leading to a heated argument. Initially, the dispute appeared to settle, but tensions escalated when one of the accused returned with his wife and brother, armed with a weapon.

According to police reports, this group confronted Gupta again, resulting in a fatal stabbing. The assailants fled the scene immediately after the attack. When the police arrived, they rushed Gupta to Sion Hospital, but he was declared dead around 3:30 a.m. due to severe injuries and blood loss.

The police have identified and arrested five suspects: Karthik R. Mohan Devendra, his wife, Karthik Kumar Devendra, Vicky Muthu Devendra, and Miniappan Ravi Devendra. They face multiple charges, including murder and rioting, under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
