A 22-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by her friend and his accomplices in Thanjavur, shortly after returning from Chennai where she works. The incident occurred when her friend lured her to a secluded shed near her home under the pretext of a private conversation. Once there, she was allegedly assaulted by him and his accomplices.
Following her complaint, the Orathanadu All Women Police Station arrested three suspects—Kavidasan, Divakar, and Praveen—on charges of rape, criminal intimidation, and recording the crime. A 17-year-old boy was also detained. The survivor is currently receiving treatment at a government hospital, and further investigation is underway.
