At least 39 Amarnath Yatra pilgrims were injured after a speeding bus skidded off the road in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday.
The injured pilgrims were shifted to the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Hospital for treatment. Authorities said all the injured received prompt medical attention.
Bus loses control in Ganderbal
According to officials, the accident occurred when the bus carrying Amarnath pilgrims reportedly lost control and skidded off the road in Ganderbal district.
Emergency response teams, police personnel and local authorities rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation, evacuating the injured passengers from the vehicle.
Injured shifted to SKIMS Hospital
All 39 injured pilgrims were taken to SKIMS Hospital for treatment. Medical teams are closely monitoring their condition, while hospital authorities are providing the necessary care.
Officials have not reported any fatalities in the incident.
Probe underway
Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary information suggests that the bus was travelling at high speed when it skidded off the road, though the circumstances leading to the mishap are being examined.
The annual Amarnath Yatra attracts thousands of devotees from across the country, with extensive security and safety arrangements in place along the pilgrimage route.
