Five devotees on a pilgrimage to a temple in Tamil Nadu tragically lost their lives when a speeding van collided with them along the Tiruchirappalli-Thanjavur highway in Pudukottai on Wednesday.
The victims, identified as Muthuswamy, Meena, Rani, Mohanambal, and Lakshmi, were journeying from Gandharvakottai to the Samayapuram Mariyamman temple when the incident occurred near Valambakudi. The collision resulted in the immediate deaths of Muthuswamy, Meena, Rani, and Mohanambal. Lakshmi sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Thanjavur Government Hospital, where unfortunately, she later succumbed.
Authorities from the Sengipatti Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
