New Delhi: Financial crisis seems to have driven four siblings to hang themselves in their rented flat in Faridabad. A suicide note found at the scene has led the police to believe that the incident occurred four days ago.
According to news agency ANI, the bodies were discovered when police broke into the rented apartment after the caretaker complained that foul smell was emanating from the flat.
The siblings, whose bodies were found in two separate rooms, were identified as Meena Matthew (52), Neena (51), Jaya (49) and Pradeep (37). They were all unmarried.
It was also learnt that the four lost both their parents within a span of six months. The father is said to have died six months ago and their mother, two months ago.
Poverty is the cause for the suicides, according to the locals. The four had borrowed money from their neighbours over the past few months. One of the sisters even had a kidney ailment and had to do dialysis.
It was also reported that a suicide note was found at the scene, wherein the siblings stated financial issues as a reason for the extreme step.
The siblings’ bodies were sent to PGI Rohtak for post-mortem.
