ERODE: In a heartbreaking incident on Wednesday evening, a seven-year-old girl died after a dupatta got wrapped tightly around her neck while playing at her home in EBP Nagar.
The victim, Deekshana, was the daughter of Ramakrishnan, a truck driver, and Mohanapriya, a homemaker. According to police, the child was playing outside wearing her mother’s dupatta around her neck like a scarf.
Around that time, Mohanapriya asked Deekshana to get ready for tuition. The little girl went inside the house but did not return for a long while, prompting concern.
When Mohanapriya went in to check, she found her daughter lying unconscious, the dupatta entangled around her neck. She was immediately rushed to the government hospital, but doctors there declared her brought dead.
The Erode North police have launched an investigation and are treating the case as a tragic accident. Officers have appealed to parents to exercise caution regarding children’s clothing and play habits.
