THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a major strike against narcotics, Kerala Police arrested 79 individuals on Thursday during Operation D-Hunt, a special state-wide initiative aimed at curbing drug trafficking and possession of banned substances.
The operation saw screening of 1,758 suspects, resulting in 77 NDPS Act cases being registered. Authorities seized 4.54g of MDMA (ecstasy), 222.08g of ganja, and 59 ganja-laced beedis.
Launched with the objective of tracing and dismantling drug networks, the drive was conducted under the direct supervision of the Additional DGP (Law and Order). The anti-narcotics intelligence cell, NDPS coordination units at state and range levels, and local police worked in coordination to execute the crackdown.
