Central agencies in India and police authorities in Canada have launched an intensified search for two most-wanted shooters identified as Sharry and Diljot Rehal, following multiple firing incidents at Kap’s Cafe, the Surrey-based establishment owned by comedian Kapil Sharma. The shooters are suspected to be affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, a network already under scrutiny for high-profile criminal activities in India and overseas.
Shooters identified after key arrest in Delhi
The Delhi Police Crime Branch recently identified the suspects after the arrest of Bandhuman Singh, a close associate of the alleged attackers. Singh was taken into custody upon his return from Canada by a team led by DCP Sanjeev Yadav.
According to Crime Branch sources, Singh supplied weapons and logistical support to the perpetrators. During interrogation, he confirmed that the same shooters — Sharry and Diljot Rehal — were involved in all three firing incidents targeting the cafe.
Three targeted attacks raise security concerns
Kap’s Cafe was struck on July 10, August 7, and October 16, each time with sophisticated weaponry, causing alarm in both Surrey and Mumbai. The repeated incidents have heightened fears of organised transnational gang activity.
Investigators believe the attacks were not random acts of intimidation but coordinated operations directed by a mastermind.
Mastermind suspected to be orchestrating violence
A Crime Branch source stated that a gangster known as Seepu may have orchestrated the attacks. The two Punjabi-origin shooters allegedly acted under his instructions, repeatedly opening fire at the cafe as part of an extortion or intimidation strategy.
The revelation has widened the scope of the investigation, prompting increased collaboration between central Indian agencies and Canadian police.
Cross-border collaboration expands
With the alleged involvement of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang — one of the most closely watched organised crime networks in India — authorities are treating the case as a high-priority transnational crime matter.
Central agencies are coordinating intelligence with Canadian law enforcement to trace the whereabouts of the shooters and apprehend them at the earliest. Officials say the identification of Sharry and Diljot has strengthened the investigative trail.
Cafe owner Kapil Sharma remains unharmed
Kapil Sharma has not commented publicly on the latest developments, but police reports indicate that no injuries were reported during any of the attacks. However, the repeated targeting of the establishment has led to heightened security measures in both Canada and India.
