In a significant development for India’s fight against transnational organised crime, fugitive gangster Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has been deported from the United States. He is expected to land in New Delhi on Wednesday, marking a major success for Indian security and investigative agencies pursuing him in multiple high-profile criminal cases.

US confirms deportation of Bishnoi

The breakthrough came on Tuesday when the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officially informed the family of slain NCP leader Baba Siddique that Bishnoi had been “removed” from American soil. A DHS communication conveyed: “ANMOL BISHNOI has been removed from the United States… The offender was removed on November 18, 2025.”

According to officials, Bishnoi is believed to be en route to India, where he will be taken into custody upon arrival. His deportation ends a four-year international chase after he fled India on a forged passport in 2021.

Trail across multiple countries before arrest

Anmol, a native of Fazilka district in Punjab, had travelled through Nepal, Dubai and Kenya before reaching the US. He was last publicly spotted at an event in Bakersfield, California in April 2023. He was later arrested by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for using a fake passport and detained in Pottawattamie County Jail, Iowa, setting the deportation process in motion earlier this year.

Family of Baba Siddique informed; demands swift action

Speaking to the media, Zeeshan Siddique, son of the slain leader, confirmed receiving regular updates from US agencies.
“On 18th November, we were informed that they have removed the offender from their land. We now want the Mumbai Police to arrest and question him to determine the motive behind my father’s killing and the firing outside Salman Khan’s residence. He is a threat to society,” Zeeshan said.

Facing 18 criminal cases across India

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has declared Anmol Bishnoi a “most wanted” criminal and announced a ₹10 lakh reward for actionable information on him. He faces at least 18 criminal cases, including:

  • Conspiracy in the murder of former minister Baba Siddique (Mumbai, Oct 2024)
  • April 2024 firing outside actor Salman Khan’s Bandra home
  • Coordination role in Sidhu Moosewala’s May 2022 murder

Investigators allege that Anmol, while based abroad, served as a key overseas link for the Bishnoi gang, orchestrating extortion operations, issuing threats, and managing criminal assignments via encrypted channels.

A crucial figure in global crime networks

A senior NIA official said that Anmol’s foreign base allowed the gang to forge alliances with criminal syndicates across West Asia, East Africa and North America.
“With his deportation confirmed, we are preparing for his formal custody. His interrogation could unravel significant details about international linkages,” the officer added.

Alongside Anmol, his brother Lawrence Bishnoi and Canada-based Goldy Brar remain central accused in the Moosewala murder case. Agencies claim that Anmol and Brar jointly raised funds for terror and organised crime activities through drug trafficking, arms smuggling, extortion and targeted killings.

Links to pro-Khalistan elements under scrutiny

NIA’s chargesheet from March 24, 2023, states that Anmol was in constant touch with pro-Khalistan groups operating across Canada, the US, Nepal, Pakistan and other countries. He allegedly coordinated finances and logistics from abroad along with associate Darmanjot Kahlon.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is also investigating money laundering aspects under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

What happens after his arrival in India?

Upon landing in Delhi, Anmol is expected to be:

  1. Formally arrested by the NIA or Mumbai Police
  2. Interrogated about international operations
  3. Questioned regarding all ongoing cases, including murders, extortion networks and alleged terror links

Conclusion

Anmol Bishnoi’s deportation is being viewed as a major advance for India’s crackdown on globally spread organised crime networks. His arrival is expected to unlock critical information regarding the Bishnoi syndicate’s operations, funding channels and international partnerships — potentially reshaping multiple ongoing investigations.
