A Zepto Cafe customer recently took to Instagram with shocking claims of discovering ants in Maggi noodles ordered through the app. The video, which has gone viral with over 2 million views, shows multiple bowls of Maggi, one empty and others partially eaten. As the camera zooms in, several dead ants are clearly visible at the bottom of the containers.

Sharing the video, the customer tagged Zepto and wrote, “@zeptonow this is disgusting. I’m shocked their cafe still operates, luring customers with offers like ‘Buy 1 Get 1 Free’—only to serve food with insects. Prioritizing quick deliveries over hygiene is unacceptable.”

Zepto Cafe, part of Zepto’s 10-minute quick-commerce platform, delivers ready-to-eat meals and beverages. In response, Zepto’s official Instagram handle replied in the comments:
“Hey! At Zepto, we take quality seriously and regret any inconvenience if this product didn’t meet your expectations. Please DM your order details so we can resolve this at Zepto speed!”

The customer, however, wasn’t satisfied. She responded, “We received a refund, but what about the contaminated food we consumed? These were ants—what if it had been cockroaches? This is a hygiene issue. People could fall seriously ill. We expect safe food, not just fast service.”

In a related development, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently suspended Zepto’s food business licence for its Dharavi warehouse in Mumbai. The suspension followed an inspection that found expired items, fungal growth, and poor hygiene in storage.
