Actor Anuj Sachdeva has spoken about a traumatic late-night assault he says left him shaken and disillusioned, alleging not just a violent attack by a stranger but also attempts to dilute his complaint at a police station.
Speaking on a podcast hosted by Chhavi Hussein, Sachdeva recounted the incident from December 14, when he stepped out at night to walk his dog with a friend. He said a parked car caught his attention and, as he moved to take a photo, a man approached and began shouting before charging at him.
Dog attacked while protecting owner
Sachdeva said his dog instinctively moved to protect him when the confrontation escalated, but the attacker allegedly began hitting the animal. “When you’re with someone you care about—your dog, a friend—your first instinct is to protect them,” he said, adding that the incident was captured on video, with his friend calling for the society watchman.
Chhavi Hussein noted during the conversation that housing society watchmen should have clearer authority to intervene in such situations.
Alleged threats at police station
The actor further alleged that when he went to file a complaint, a policeman from another station attempted to manipulate his FIR. He also claimed the accused threatened him at the police station, saying “2026 will be your last year.” Sachdeva expressed disappointment, saying he had “a lot of expectations” from the Mumbai Police.
Questions on safety and the right to speak up
Sharing a video about the incident on social media, Sachdeva raised broader questions about public safety and citizens’ rights—whether speaking up against wrongdoing invites danger, and whether victims are expected to remain silent to stay safe.
