Former DySP Anupama Shenoy on Saturday urged police to investigate the alleged involvement of Popular Front of India (PFI) members in the murder of retired DG-IGP Om Prakash. Speaking at the Mangaluru Press Club, Shenoy — now an advocate — cited a WhatsApp message from Prakash’s wife Pallavi, hinting at his links with PFI.

Shenoy said she suspects Prakash may have been pressured by political leaders to induct PFI members into the police force. She stressed that investigators should not focus solely on Pallavi’s reported admission but also probe possible PFI involvement.

Recalling her own resignation from service in 2016 after a tiff with former Ballari District Minister P.T. Parameshwar Naik, Shenoy said she had filed complaints against Prakash and others, releasing audio evidence at the time. She asserted that a timely inquiry back then might have prevented Prakash’s death.

Shenoy further suggested Pallavi may have been threatened into confessing and has written to DG-IGP Alok Mohan demanding a broader investigation.
