A shocking incident unfolded at a Punjab & Sind Bank branch in Loni Border, where a security guard allegedly shot dead the branch manager following a heated argument over workplace issues.
Argument turns deadly inside bank
The deceased has been identified as Abhishek Kumar (36), a resident of Patna, who had been serving as the branch manager since August 2025. The incident occurred around 1.30 pm at the Balram Nagar Colony branch.
According to police, the accused, Ravindra Hudda (45), returned to the bank after a heated phone argument with Kumar. He reportedly entered the manager’s cabin and continued the confrontation before leaving briefly and returning with his licensed firearm.
He then allegedly shot Kumar while he was seated in his cabin, in full view of staff and customers.
Staff and customers left in shock
At the time of the incident, more than 10 customers and several bank employees were present inside the branch. Eyewitnesses said no one intervened during the shooting, which created panic and fear.
Kumar was rushed to GTB Hospital in Delhi but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Dispute over leave and salary
Police said Hudda, a former Army personnel who had been working as a security guard for three months, was upset over issues related to leave and salary deductions.
During questioning, he reportedly claimed that the manager frequently reprimanded him for taking leave and deducted ₹2,000 to ₹4,000 from his monthly salary of ₹12,000.
Bank staff also told police that Hudda had a history of irregular attendance and confrontational behaviour.
Arrest after hours-long manhunt
Following the shooting, Hudda fled the scene. CCTV footage captured him leaving the premises with the weapon. His associate, who had accompanied him, was also present outside the cabin during the incident.
Police later arrested Hudda around three hours after the crime near a liquor store in Loni Border, where he was found consuming alcohol. The weapon and the bike used in the crime were seized.
Case registered, probe underway
An FIR has been registered against the accused under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Officials said further investigation is underway to establish all circumstances leading to the incident, which has raised concerns over workplace conflict management and security protocols.
