Bank branches across India remain closed today, Saturday, July 11, as it is the second Saturday of the month, a mandatory holiday under the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar.
The closure applies to both public and private sector banks, including the State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Punjab National Bank, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, Axis Bank and other scheduled banks.
Branch services unavailable
Customers will not be able to access branch-based banking services such as cash deposits and withdrawals, cheque clearance, demand draft issuance, passbook updates and other over-the-counter transactions.
Those requiring in-person banking services are advised to visit their bank branches on the next working day.
Digital banking continues uninterrupted
Despite the holiday, ATM services will remain fully operational, allowing customers to withdraw cash and, at select locations, use cash deposit machines.
Online banking services, including internet banking, mobile banking apps, Unified Payments Interface (UPI), Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) and National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT), will continue to function without interruption. As per RBI guidelines, NEFT services remain available round the clock, including weekends and public holidays.
More holidays in July
The RBI’s holiday calendar also includes several regional holidays during July, with bank closures varying from state to state depending on local festivals and observances.
Following today’s second Saturday holiday, banks will also remain closed on Sunday, July 12, as part of the regular weekly holiday schedule.
Customers are encouraged to plan branch-related banking activities in advance and make use of digital banking channels to avoid inconvenience during holidays.
