PATNA: In an unusual legal move, a man from Bihar has approached a court with a complaint against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging that the latter’s recent remarks left him so shocked that he dropped a bucket of milk, resulting in a ₹250 loss. The complaint, filed by Mukesh Chaudhary from Samastipur district, claims that Gandhi’s statements during a recent event about “fighting the Indian state” caused him to lose grip of his five-litre milk bucket, priced at ₹50 per litre.

Chaudhary’s plea was filed in the civil court of the Rosera sub-division, where he sought Gandhi’s trial under various sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), including Section 152, which deals with sedition. The court has not yet confirmed whether the plea has been admitted.

The controversy stems from remarks made by Gandhi during a Congress party event on January 15, where he slammed RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s claim about India’s true independence being linked to the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Gandhi criticized the BJP and RSS for allegedly capturing national institutions, stating, “We are now fighting the BJP, the RSS, and the Indian State itself.”

This statement has drawn sharp criticism from the BJP, with party president JP Nadda accusing Gandhi and his team of lacking historical knowledge and responsibility. The BJP has also condemned the remarks as a threat to national sovereignty.

An FIR has been registered against Gandhi in Assam under Sections 152 and 197 (1)(d) of the Indian Penal Code for his alleged remarks that could endanger the country’s unity and integrity.
