Guwahati: A biker in Guwahati has won appreciation online after stopping to help a young boy who was riding without a helmet, offering him a child-sized Tom and Jerry helmet and asking his mother to make sure he wore it every time.
The biker, Instagram content creator Leki Goswami, captured the interaction on video. He was riding alongside the woman and her son when he noticed the child without protective headgear.
A helmet instead of a lecture
Rather than simply pointing out the safety concern, Goswami stopped and offered the child a helmet he had with him.
“Didi, I have a small helmet. Can I give it to the boy? It’s a child’s helmet?” he asked the woman.
He then requested that she make sure her son wore it whenever she took him to school. The helmet, featuring popular Tom and Jerry characters, also gave the child a fun and colourful piece of protective gear.
Why child safety matters on Guwahati roads
Goswami said his concern was particularly linked to the road conditions in Guwahati during heavy rain. Waterlogging can make potholes and damaged stretches difficult for riders to see, increasing the risk of accidents.
He explained that a helmet could provide important protection if the scooter encountered a pothole or an unexpected damaged patch of road.
A small act with a big message
The video has received positive reactions from viewers, many of whom appreciated Goswami for helping a child he did not know.
The gesture was simple, but its message was clear: children travelling as pillion riders also need proper safety protection. Instead of turning the moment into a warning or confrontation, Goswami offered something practical and left the family with a reminder that could make the child’s daily journeys safer.
