Blast in Telangana’s Singareni mines kills four

Telangana: A blast in Singareni Collieries open cast mines at Ramagundam of North Telangana has left four persons dead, on Tuesday morning.

As per initial reports, six other workers have been severely injured in the blast that occurred in Phase-2 of the Surface Mine-1.

The mishap occurred during the OB blasting and four of contract workers died on the spot. While identity of three have been ascertained, one deceased has been not yet been identified.

The three identified dead bodies are of Rakesh, Praveen from Godavarikani and Rajesh from Kamanpur. 

Three bodies have been recovered from the blast site and have been shifted to Singareni Hospital in Godavarikani for post mortem, said sources.

Though the exact reason for the blast has not yet been ascertained, many say that explosive material are used in coal mines to blast coal reserves and the same may have caused the fatal blast.
