Hyderabad: An Amsterdam–Hyderabad KLM Airlines flight received a bomb threat email in the early hours of Monday, triggering heightened security measures at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Authorities acted swiftly by activating standard safety protocols, following which the aircraft landed safely and all passengers and crew were found to be secure.
Threat received around midnight
According to official sources, the bomb threat email was received at the airport around 12.00 am. The message specifically mentioned a KLM Airlines flight operating on the Amsterdam–Hyderabad route. Upon receiving the alert, airport security agencies, airline officials, and law enforcement authorities were immediately informed.
Standard operating procedures for such contingencies were put in place without delay. These included close coordination among airport security, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), local police, and emergency response teams.
Safe landing after security alert
Despite the threat, the flight continued under close monitoring and landed safely at the Hyderabad airport around 1.00 am. After touchdown, the aircraft was directed to a designated isolated bay as part of security protocol.
Passengers were safely deboarded in a calm and orderly manner. Baggage and the aircraft were subjected to thorough security checks by bomb disposal squads and other specialised teams. Officials confirmed that no suspicious object was found during the inspection.
Airport authorities stated that passenger safety remained the top priority throughout the operation and that all procedures were followed strictly as per established guidelines.
Passengers and crew safe
All passengers and crew members aboard the KLM flight were reported to be safe. Medical and emergency services were kept on standby as a precautionary measure, though no medical assistance was required.
Sources indicated that passengers were briefed about the situation after landing and were provided necessary assistance by airline staff and airport authorities. The situation was handled without panic, reflecting the preparedness of the response teams.
Series of recent bomb threat incidents
The incident is the latest in a series of bomb threat emails received by the Hyderabad airport this month. On December 6, two international flights were targeted with similar threats sent to the airport’s customer support email ID.
According to a statement issued by Hyderabad Airport operator GMR, British Airways flight BA 277, operating from Heathrow to Hyderabad, received a bomb threat email on December 6. The flight landed safely at around 5.25 am, following which standard safety protocols were initiated.
On the same day, Kuwait Airways flight KU 373, operating from Kuwait to Hyderabad, also received a bomb threat email. In that case, the aircraft returned to its departure airport as a precautionary measure.
Earlier Emirates flight threat
A similar incident was reported on December 5, when a bomb threat email was received for Emirates flight EK526 operating from Dubai to Hyderabad. The threat was received around 7.30 am.
Despite the alert, the flight continued its journey under enhanced monitoring and landed safely at Hyderabad around 8.30 am. After landing, the aircraft was taken to an isolated bay, and passengers were safely deboarded in accordance with standard procedures. A detailed security check was conducted, and no threat was found.
Authorities remain on high alert
Security agencies have taken note of the repeated threats and are investigating the source of the emails. Officials said that strict action would be taken against those found responsible for issuing false threats, which not only disrupt flight operations but also cause anxiety among passengers.
Airport authorities reiterated that all bomb threat messages are treated with utmost seriousness and that established protocols ensure passenger safety at all times.

While the bomb threat to the KLM Amsterdam–Hyderabad flight caused a temporary security scare, swift action by airport authorities ensured a safe landing and the well-being of everyone on board. With multiple such incidents reported in recent weeks, officials remain vigilant and have assured travellers that robust security measures are in place to handle any such threats effectively.
