Several schools across Delhi were placed on high alert on Monday morning after receiving bomb threat emails, triggering emergency responses from security agencies and widespread concern among parents and staff.
According to the Delhi Fire Service (DFS), the first call reporting a threat was received at 8.33 am. Fire tenders, bomb disposal squads and police teams were immediately rushed to the affected schools to carry out checks and ensure the safety of students and staff.
Schools placed on alert
Officials confirmed that at least nine schools across different parts of the city received the threats. These include institutions located in Delhi Cantonment, Rohini, Srinivaspuri, New Friends Colony, Sadiq Nagar and INA. Authorities said more schools may have received similar messages, and verification is ongoing.
As a precaution, several schools either delayed classes, evacuated premises or shifted students to safe areas while thorough inspections were conducted.
Disturbing email under probe
Police sources said the threat emails contained provocative content and references to extremist ideology, along with claims of a larger attack planned at a later date. Officials have avoided sharing the exact wording to prevent panic but confirmed that the messages are being treated seriously.
Cybercrime units are analysing the email headers and digital trail to identify the sender. Security agencies have also stepped up surveillance at sensitive locations across the capital.
No explosives found so far
Initial searches at the affected schools did not find any suspicious objects, officials said, adding that checks are continuing as a precautionary measure. Parents have been urged not to panic and to rely only on official updates.
The Delhi Police said a coordinated investigation is underway with intelligence agencies to determine whether the threats are hoaxes or part of a larger attempt to create fear.
Authorities have assured that student safety remains the top priority and that strict action will be taken once those responsible are identified.
