Two Egyptian residents were rescued after their boat broke down in the Red Sea, following a swift search and rescue operation by Saudi Arabia’s Border Guards.
According to officials, the rescue was carried out in the Al-Qahmah sector of the southern Asir region. Search and rescue teams of the General Directorate of Border Guards located the stranded boat and safely evacuated the two men, who were then provided with the necessary assistance.
Rescue operation in southern waters
Authorities said the boat had suffered a technical failure, leaving the occupants stranded at sea. Prompt action by maritime patrol units ensured the situation did not escalate into a life-threatening emergency.
Officials did not report any injuries, and both individuals were confirmed to be in stable condition after the rescue.
Advisory on maritime safety
Following the incident, the Border Guards reiterated the importance of adhering to maritime safety regulations. Citizens and residents were urged to ensure their vessels are seaworthy, properly equipped and checked before venturing out to sea.
The directorate also reminded the public to use emergency helplines in case of distress at sea. For emergencies, people have been advised to contact 911 in the regions of Makkah, Madinah and the Eastern Province, and 994 in the rest of the Kingdom.
Officials said timely communication and compliance with safety guidelines remain critical in preventing accidents and ensuring quick rescue responses in maritime emergencies.
