New Delhi: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has secured 293 seats in the Lok Sabha elections 2024, surpassing the simple majority mark of 272. Following the victory, Prime Minister Modi called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday afternoon.
In a formal gesture, Prime Minister Modi tendered his resignation along with that of the Union Council of Ministers. President Murmu accepted the resignation and requested Prime Minister Modi and his ministers to continue in office until the new government is formed.
Sources indicate that later this evening, Prime Minister Modi, accompanied by NDA leaders, will present their claim to form the government to President Murmu, formally requesting her to invite them to establish the next government.
The formation of the new government under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership is anticipated to take place on June 8. The event is expected to be a grand oath-taking ceremony. More details about this likely to emerge after the NDA meeting today evening.
