Around 40 individuals sustained injuries in a bus accident early Sunday when a private double-decker bus traveling from Jaunpur to Delhi overturned on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway and plunged into a ditch. Reports indicate that the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel, causing the incident.

Approximately 30 of the injured passengers were taken to Saurikh Government Hospital, while 12 others were transported to Medical College Tirwa for medical attention. Police teams, including personnel from several stations along with ASP and CO, arrived promptly at the scene to rescue those injured.

The accident occurred within the jurisdiction of Saurikh police station in Chhibramau tehsil, as confirmed by a police spokesperson. Further updates on the condition of the injured are awaited.
