A birthday celebration in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district turned into a horrifying tragedy after three men were allegedly shot dead following an argument over cake being smeared on the host’s face.
Police said the accused, private contractor Jitendra Kumar, is absconding after the late-night shooting inside a gym in Khurja area.
Dispute during party turns violent
According to investigators, the incident took place around 11 pm on Saturday during Kumar’s birthday gathering.
Guests reportedly applied cake on his face against his wishes, leading to a heated argument with Amardeep Saini (32), one of those attending the celebration.
Police said Kumar then left the venue and later returned with a pistol.
Three family members killed
Authorities said Amardeep Saini and his brother Manish Saini (30) were allegedly shot at close range.
Akash Saini (19), their nephew, reportedly tried to flee but was chased and shot dead.
All three victims were taken to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead.
CCTV recorder removed
Police said the accused allegedly removed the CCTV digital video recorder before fleeing the scene.
Investigators are now scanning footage from surrounding areas to trace his movements.
An FIR has reportedly been registered against multiple persons under murder charges.
Arrests made, manhunt underway
Police confirmed that gym owner Rupesh Kumar and two others were arrested on Sunday in connection with the case.
Officials also said liquor bottles and beer cans were found at the scene.
Families shattered
The victims’ families have been left devastated. Manish is survived by a two-year-old daughter, while Amardeep leaves behind a young son and a newborn daughter.
