On Monday, masked miscreants beat a 22-year-old B. N. College undergraduate student to death on the campus of Patna Law College, according to police.
When the student, identified as Harsh Raj, a resident of the Vaishali district, left the Patna Law College examination hall after taking his final-year exams, the incident happened at approximately one in the afternoon.
He was taken to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) right away, where he passed away while receiving care.
Soon after the incident, a police team led by additional superintendent of police (ASP) of Patna City, Dasrath R S, visited the spot.
“Harsh Raj was killed after 7-8 criminals brutally assaulted him. He was soon taken to the hospital but he died there. We are scanning the CCTV footage of the crime and other evidences are being collected. Efforts are on to trace the assailants,” he said.
Reporters were informed by Ajit Kumar, the deceased’s father and a journalist for a Hindi daily, that Harsh had been tense ever since he began getting ready for the student union elections at the university in which he was running for president.
The campus is free of police pickets.
According to an evening announcement from the university, all of Patna University’s exams scheduled for May 28 have been canceled, and all colleges will be closed on Tuesday.
