Kundara: In a shocking incident, police arrested Jijesh (40) of Jijo Sadanam after he assaulted officers during a late-night confrontation near Padappakkara Nellimukku on Thursday. Already named in nearly a dozen criminal cases, Jijesh was being booked for an earlier assault complaint when things took a violent turn.
As officers approached him around 9 PM, Jijesh—found drinking by the lakeside—became aggressive. He bit Sub-Inspector P Sachil Lal on the leg and, in a bizarre move, ordered a pet dog (owned by his cousin) to attack Civil Police Officer S Sreejith. The dog obeyed, biting the officer, police confirmed.
Additional personnel rushed to the spot and subdued the accused. But even after being put in the police vehicle, Jijesh’s rampage continued—he damaged the seats and smashed a rear window pane.
Both injured officers were treated at the Taluk Hospital. Jijesh was presented before the Kollam First Class Judicial Magistrate and remanded to 14 days’ custody.
