A podcast clip of real estate tycoon CJ Roy, in which he spoke about having achieved everything in life and celebrating each day fully, has resurfaced on social media following his death by suicide on Friday. Roy, 57, the owner of Confident Group, allegedly shot himself at his Bengaluru office while Income Tax raids were underway.

Podcast remarks draw attention

In a Malayalam podcast titled Editoreal, Roy spoke candidly about his outlook on life and success. Referring to his personal aircraft, he said that even if informed of an imminent crash, he would remain unafraid as he had already fulfilled all his ambitions. He described life as a “celebration” and spoke about his habit of staying awake past midnight to fully experience each day before resting.

The clip has gone viral in the wake of his death, with many users reflecting on the contrast between his public confidence and the circumstances surrounding his final moments.

Stress following tax raids alleged

According to Roy’s brother, the businessman had been under intense mental stress following raids conducted on companies linked to him earlier that day by the Income Tax Department. Speaking to a Malayalam news channel, he alleged that sustained pressure over the past few days may have contributed to Roy taking the extreme step.

“He was under pressure for the last three to four days. I was trying to calm him down,” the brother said, adding that Roy had sounded normal when he last spoke to family members.

Death note rumours dismissed

Meanwhile, rumours circulating on social media about a lengthy death note have been dismissed by investigators. A senior SIT officer said such documents would be considered only if recovered from the scene or through verified electronic evidence, cautioning against unsubstantiated claims.

Probe continues

Police said investigations are ongoing to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to Roy’s death. Authorities have not yet commented on any direct link between the raids and the incident.
