A 17-year-old boy appearing for Class 12 board examinations allegedly died by suicide on Saturday afternoon in Chiloda after being locked inside his 15-year-old girlfriend’s house, police said.
According to Chiloda Police Station, an accidental death case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
Father allegedly locked boy inside
Police said the girl, a Class 10 board student from the same school, was alone at home as her father had stepped out to visit her hospitalised mother. The boy, who lived nearby, reportedly went to meet her during this time.
Inspector S J Chauhan stated that the girl’s father returned unexpectedly and found the boy inside the house. He allegedly reprimanded both teenagers, asked his daughter to step out, and locked the boy inside a room before contacting his family.
While the boy’s relatives were on their way, he allegedly took the extreme step inside the locked room.
Case registered, probe underway
Police said they were alerted to the incident shortly thereafter. The boy was found unresponsive and later declared dead. His body has been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Officials said statements of the girl’s father and other family members are being recorded as part of the investigation. Authorities have urged families to approach such situations with sensitivity, particularly when minors are involved.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, especially as both teenagers were preparing for crucial board examinations.
