A Class 12 student allegedly died by suicide at her residence on Khadgaon Road under Wadi police station limits on Wednesday, just hours after appearing for her Physics examination.

According to the Maharashtra Police, the student had returned home at around 3.30 pm after writing her exam. Her brother was present at the house at the time but reportedly stepped out shortly thereafter.

Incident discovered by brother

Police said that during his brief absence, the girl allegedly tied a dupatta to an iron window grill and hanged herself. The incident came to light when her brother returned home and found her unresponsive.

He immediately alerted neighbours and authorities. She was rushed for medical assistance but was declared dead.

Probe underway

Officials from the Wadi police station have registered a case of accidental death. The exact reason behind the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.

Police said statements from family members are being recorded as part of the investigation. No suicide note has been reported so far.

The tragic incident has left the local community in shock, particularly as it occurred soon after the student had appeared for an important board examination.

Authorities have urged families to remain attentive to the emotional wellbeing of students during examination periods and to seek timely support if required.
