In a disturbing turn of events in Hyderabad, a seventh-grade student reportedly assaulted a teacher with a metal rod after being caught cheating during annual exams.
Bandara Venugopal, 45, a physical education assistant at Government Boys High School in Bandimet, was supervising exams that began on April 9. While invigilating, he spotted a student resorting to unfair means. Taking immediate disciplinary action, Venugopal seized the student’s answer sheet and shifted him to the corridor.
However, the student allegedly harbored resentment. In a shocking act of retaliation, he is said to have grabbed the school bell rod and waited outside the campus. As Venugopal stepped out after school hours, the boy reportedly attacked him from behind, striking his head twice and leaving him with serious injuries.
The incident occurred in full view of other teaching staff. Following the assault, Venugopal filed a complaint at the Begumpet Police Station. Law enforcement authorities have registered a case and initiated a detailed investigation into the matter.
This incident has raised concerns over growing aggression among students and the safety of school faculty, especially during exam season.
