In Pathanamthitta’s Adoor Holy Angels School, a Class 9 student was reportedly made to stand outside the classroom for three hours due to not cutting his hair “properly.” The incident has led the student’s parents to file complaints with the Human Rights Commission and the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).

The student shared his experience, saying two teachers stopped him from entering the class and demanded his father’s phone number. They warned that without his father’s presence, he wouldn’t be allowed inside. Despite having his hair cut the previous day, the teachers claimed it was insufficiently trimmed.

The boy’s father stated that when informed, he assured the school he would take his son for a proper haircut later that evening. However, the school insisted the father come to discuss the matter, threatening to keep the student out all day otherwise. Upon arrival, the father expressed his disapproval of the school’s approach.

School officials maintained that the student must attend school with a neat appearance as per their rules.

The Adoor circle inspector and other officials have visited the school to investigate the matter further. This case has raised questions about the enforcement of appearance policies and students’ rights within educational institutions.
