A six-year-old girl died after allegedly swallowing a bead from her bracelet while attending classes at a private school in Uttar Pradesh’s Budaun district on Monday, police said.
The incident occurred at New Hopes Public School in Kakrala town, where Class I student Taapsi reportedly swallowed the bead around 11.30 am.
Breathing difficulty in classroom
According to school authorities, a classmate informed the teacher that the child had chewed and swallowed a bead from her bracelet. Soon after, she reportedly experienced breathing difficulty.
The school administration stated that the family was immediately informed and medical assistance was arranged. The child was first taken to a local community health centre and later shifted to the district hospital.
Doctors at the district hospital declared her dead.
Family seeks action
The girl’s father, Tekchandra, has demanded action against the school management, alleging that the family was informed only after his daughter had passed away.
School principal Bhooraj Singh said the child had arrived at school in normal condition. He added that CCTV footage from the classroom has been handed over to the Uttar Pradesh Police and the school is cooperating fully with the investigation.
Inquiry under way
Alapur Station House Officer Madhav Singh Bisht said police initiated inquest proceedings after receiving information from the district hospital. A panel of doctors will conduct the post-mortem examination.
Police have collected CCTV footage from the school. No formal complaint has been filed by the family so far, and further legal action will be taken after due inquiry.
Authorities said senior officials have been informed and investigations are ongoing to ascertain the exact sequence of events.
