A couple suffered severe injuries after leaping 90 feet into a gorge from the Heritage Bridge in Pali, Rajasthan, when a train unexpectedly appeared during their photo shoot on Saturday afternoon.
The husband and wife were promptly hospitalized following the incident. Although they are currently stable, their condition remains critical.
According to reports, Rahul Mewada (22) and his wife Jahnvi (20), residents of Kalal Ki Pipaliyan in Bagdi Nagar, rode their bike to Gormghat. Rahul was later transferred to Jodhpur for specialized treatment due to severe spinal injuries, while Jahnvi is receiving care for a leg fracture at Bangar Hospital.
A purported video of the incident, posted on X, shows the couple holding each other and leaping from the bridge as the train approaches.

Rahul’s sister and brother-in-law, who were with them, managed to escape unhurt by fleeing upon seeing the approaching train.
Senior Commercial Divisional Manager of Ajmer Railway Division, Sunil Kumar Mahala, commented on the incident, noting that the train’s locomotive pilot began braking upon spotting the couple on the bridge. Despite the train coming to a stop on the bridge, the couple’s fear prompted them to jump, leading to their injuries.
