A couple’s month-long workcation in Ladakh has caught attention online after they shared a detailed account of spending nearly Rs 1 lakh to live, work and travel in the Himalayan region.
Stay, food and travel add up
Digital creators Anjali and Naman, who describe themselves as a “Corporate Couple”, spent a total of Rs 96,600 for two people, or about Rs 48,300 per person, during their month in Ladakh.
The couple initially expected to find accommodation for around Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 a month. However, they eventually paid Rs 30,000 for a month-long stay, working out to Rs 1,000 per night.
Food expenses came to Rs 9,000, while they spent Rs 2,100 on a rented scooter. They also managed to reduce their local transport costs by using their host’s scooter for free on some occasions.
Their other expenses included Rs 2,500 on groceries and snacks and another Rs 5,000 on eating out.
Travel was the biggest expense
The couple spent around Rs 30,000 on travelling around Ladakh, taking their workcation beyond simply staying in one location.
After adding accommodation, food, local transport and sightseeing expenses, their total came to Rs 96,600.
The expense breakdown was shared online along with their experience of combining remote work with travel. It prompted social media users to discuss whether spending nearly Rs 50,000 per person for a month in Ladakh was reasonable.
Some viewers described the experience as worthwhile, particularly because the amount covered both living and travelling for an entire month.
The couple’s account also highlights how remote work is giving professionals greater flexibility to spend longer periods in destinations that were traditionally associated with short holidays.
