Thiruvananthapuram airport customs officials have confiscated ten kilograms of hybrid cannabis being smuggled into the country. The drugs were discovered in the luggage of male and female students from Malappuram, who are studying in Karnataka. The seized cannabis is estimated to be worth around ten crores, marking the largest such haul of hybrid cannabis at this airport.

The suspects arrived on Scoot Airlines flight TR 530, which landed from Singapore at 11:10 pm on Saturday. Authorities say the students had traveled to Bangkok and were returning via Singapore when the seizure occurred. Customs officers became suspicious as the passengers disembarked and conducted a thorough luggage check after intercepting them at the terminal.

Detailed questioning of the accused is underway, with customs officials investigating the origin of the cannabis and its intended buyers. The authorities have withheld further details pending the ongoing inquiry.

In separate news from Palakkad, a young man linked to the Walayar case has been arrested for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a 60-year-old woman. The investigation continues in both cases.
