Cyclonic Storm Fengal Weakens After Crossing Tamil Nadu And Puducherry Coasts

Cyclonic Storm Fengal made landfall late Saturday night, crossing the northern coasts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the storm, which had intensified in the Bay of Bengal, is now gradually weakening. The IMD has forecast that Fengal will continue moving in a west-southwestward direction and will lose strength, eventually transforming into a deep depression within the next few hours.

The impact of Fengal was felt across several regions, with heavy rainfall and gusty winds reported in coastal areas. Authorities had issued warnings and taken precautions, including evacuations in vulnerable regions, to minimize the storm’s impact. Despite its weakening, the storm’s remnants are expected to bring moderate to heavy rain to inland areas, especially over the western parts of Tamil Nadu and parts of Puducherry.

Fengal’s rapid weakening is a relief to the affected areas, as the IMD had warned of potential flooding and damage due to the storm’s strength. However, local officials have continued monitoring the situation to ensure any remaining threats are addressed. The public has been urged to stay cautious and follow weather advisories.

The IMD continues to track the storm’s progression, and authorities are maintaining readiness for any additional weather-related developments.
