New Delhi: Disturbing details have emerged in the brutal murder of a 22-year-old woman in the national capital, with the accused, Rahul Meena, reportedly showing no remorse during police interrogation.

According to investigators, Meena maintained a calm demeanour and allegedly stated that the crime would not have occurred had the victim given him money. Police sources said he described the incident in a matter-of-fact manner, raising serious concerns about his mindset.

Gained entry through deception

Police revealed that Meena, a former employee of the victim’s family, gained entry into the house by falsely claiming that the victim’s mother had called him to collect money.

The accused had worked at the residence for nearly eight months before being dismissed around six weeks ago over alleged financial misconduct. Despite this, he remained familiar with the house layout and security systems.

Planned entry, familiarity with security

Investigators said the house had multiple layers of security, including locks and passcodes. Meena was aware of these systems, including the location of spare keys and access codes, which enabled him to enter the premises without raising suspicion.

He reportedly waited outside the house and entered only after the victim’s parents had left, indicating prior planning.

Sequence of events under investigation

Police said the accused remained inside the house for nearly an hour. During this time, he allegedly demanded money from the victim. When she refused, he attacked her.

Authorities confirmed that the victim died due to strangulation following an assault. The postmortem report also noted multiple injuries.

Investigators are continuing to piece together the exact sequence of events using forensic and digital evidence.

Custody and ongoing probe

Meena has been remanded to four days in police custody by the Saket Court. Officials stated that custodial interrogation is necessary to reconstruct the crime, verify evidence, and establish the full motive.

The accused was apprehended by Delhi Police from a hotel in Dwarka after a manhunt involving multiple teams.

Wider investigation

Authorities are also examining the accused’s background, including reported financial distress and possible behavioural patterns. Additional allegations linked to the accused are under scrutiny as part of the broader investigation.

Conclusion

The case has sent shockwaves across Delhi, highlighting concerns over domestic worker verification, security awareness, and urban safety. As the investigation progresses, authorities are expected to focus on ensuring justice through a thorough and evidence-based process.
