Delhi: The Delhi Police have arrested a 28-year-old man, identified as Parmjeet Singh, for allegedly stealing jewellery from the residence of a close relative in west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar. Officials confirmed on Monday that all the stolen gold ornaments were recovered from his possession, bringing swift closure to the case that unfolded earlier this month.
Theft reported by complainant after jewellery went missing
According to police, the case came to light on 9 November, when Manjinder Kaur, a resident of Uttam Nagar, lodged an e-FIR reporting that several gold jewellery items had gone missing from her home. At the time, nothing in the house appeared to have been broken into, raising suspicions about someone familiar with the family and its daily routine.
In her complaint, Manjinder informed police that a relative from Punjab, Parmjeet Singh, had been staying at her residence for three days prior to the incident. The disappearance of the jewellery coincided with his departure, prompting investigators to consider him a key suspect early in the probe.
Police investigation leads to identification of accused
A senior police official said the investigation began by examining internal movement within the house and questioning family members. Since there was no sign of forced entry, the likelihood of an insider crime grew stronger.
