A simple act of kindness by a woman in Delhi has gone viral after she shared how offering a soft drink to her Rapido driver during a heatwave left him emotional.

The woman, who shared the incident on X, said she had been casually speaking with the rider during the journey when he mentioned how difficult it had become to work outdoors in Delhi’s scorching temperatures.

A small gesture with a big impact

Before ending the ride, the woman offered the driver the soft drink she was carrying and advised him to stay hydrated in the extreme heat.

According to her post, the rider became visibly emotional and replied, “Humare baare mein toh kaun hi sochta hai,” meaning, “Who really thinks about people like us anyway?”

The response deeply affected her and later prompted her to reflect on the importance of showing kindness to people working long hours in harsh conditions.

Social media praises the gesture

The post quickly gained attention online, with many users discussing how gig workers, delivery agents and drivers often go unnoticed despite spending hours in traffic and difficult weather conditions.

Several people shared their own stories of offering water, snacks or respectful conversations to workers who became emotional over small gestures of care.

A reminder to be more compassionate

The viral post has sparked conversations about empathy and dignity for workers in the gig economy. Many users said that simple acts of kindness, even offering a soft drink or speaking respectfully, can make someone feel valued and seen.

For many online, the story became a reminder that compassion often matters more than people realise.
