New Delhi: A BJP MP from Haryana has described live-in relationships as a “dangerous disease” that should be eliminated from society.

During the ‘zero hour’ in the Lok Sabha, Dharambir Singh urged the government to enact a law against live-in relationships.

Singh also claimed that divorce rates in love marriages are high and suggested that the consent of the parents of both the bride and groom should be made mandatory for such unions.

He emphasized the importance of arranged marriages, stating that they are based on common factors and have a lower divorce rate compared to love marriages. Singh further proposed making the consent of the parents mandatory for love marriages to prevent conflicts. He referred to live-in relationships as a “new disease” and a social evil .
