Delhi Experiences Chill as Minimum Temperature Drops to 9°C

Delhi witnessed a chilly morning on Wednesday as the minimum temperature plunged to 9 degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours, a deviation of 4 degrees Celsius below the normal, according to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Delhi witnessed a chilly morning on Wednesday as the minimum temperature plunged to 9 degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours, a deviation of 4 degrees Celsius below the normal, according to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The maximum recorded temperature during this period was 23.4 degrees Celsius, also 4 degrees Celsius lower than the usual temperature. Relative humidity stood at 41 per cent, and the weather office predicted a partly cloudy sky throughout the day.

The IMD’s weather forecast for the next few days in Delhi anticipates partly cloudy conditions, with minimum temperatures ranging between 10 to 13 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature is expected to remain between 23 to 30 degrees Celsius, with a continuation of partly cloudy skies.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) for Delhi at 7:50 am on Wednesday was recorded in the “moderate” category with a reading of 148. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered “good,” while 51 to 100 is “satisfactory,” 101 to 200 is “moderate,” 201 to 300 is “poor,” 301 to 400 is “very poor,” and 401 to 500 is “severe.”

For the rest of India, the IMD forecasts dry weather across most regions for the next five days, except for the Western Himalayan region where isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall or snowfall is expected during the nights until March 7, 2024. In the past 24 hours, various regions, including Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, experienced light to moderate rainfall or snowfall. Furthermore, Gangetic West Bengal saw light to moderate rainfall, and isolated rainfall occurred in East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand. Over the next five days, a new Western Disturbance is anticipated to impact weather patterns, bringing isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall or snowfall over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh.
