New Delhi : In a Monday circular, the Directorate of Education (DoE) in Delhi mandated that all schools falling under its purview guarantee a minimum of 220 working days during the academic year.
The directive aims to uphold educational standards and is in line with the lists of gazetted, restricted, and local holidays for the calendar year (January to December), as stipulated by Section 19 of the RTE Act-2009 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023.
The heads of government schools are directed to make sure that the allotted 220 working days are completed before the start of the school year and any previous vacation times.
Moreover, the directive requests that deputy district education (DDE) officers strictly enforce compliance prior to approving any local or restricted holidays for schools that fall under their purview. In addition to following this directive, unaided recognized schools are also required to get holiday permission from their respective managements.
