New Delhi: The implementation of the Union commerce ministry’s recent curbs on the import of laptops, personal computers (PC), tablets, and related items has been postponed until October 31, as per a notification issued on August 4. Until this date, import consignments can be cleared without the need for a license for restricted imports, as stated by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT)n

The notification also mentions that liberal transitional arrangements will be in place for importing laptops, tablets, all-in-one personal computers, servers, and similar items until October 31. However, starting from November 1, a valid license for restricted imports will be required for the clearance of such import consignments.
