New Delhi: Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a strong statement in response to the violent attack on its team during a raid in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district. According to the ED, the attack occurred during searches at the premises of Sahajahan Sheikh, the Convenor of TMC, North 24 Parganas, in connection with the PDS scam in West Bengal.
In a detailed account, the ED disclosed that its team, accompanied by CRPF personnel, faced an aggressive mob of 800-1000 people armed with weapons such as lathis, stones, and bricks. The intention, as per the statement, was to cause harm and even death to the ED officials.
The aftermath of the attack saw three ED officials sustain severe injuries, leading to their admission to the hospital for treatment. The violent mob not only physically harmed the officials but also resorted to theft, snatching personal and official belongings, including mobile phones, laptops, cash, and wallets. Additionally, the ED vehicles fell victim to the rampage, suffering damage during the chaotic incident.

The ED’s mission to conduct raids related to an alleged ration distribution scam faced unexpected resistance from followers of a Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader in the Sandeshkhali area.
