Immediately upon the announcement of the schedule, the Model Code of Conduct came into effect, stated the Election Commission.

The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) stated that elections to 102 constituencies will take place in the first phase, 89 in the second phase, 94 in the third phase, 96 in the fourth, 49 in the fifth, 57 in the sixth, and 57 in the seventh phase.

Assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim are scheduled for April 19, while those in Andhra Pradesh will be held on May 13. Elections to the Odisha Assembly will occur in four phases on May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1.

Simultaneously, by-polls will be conducted for 26 Assembly constituencies.

Following the recent appointment of two new election commissioners, Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Sandhu, significant announcements regarding election preparedness have been made.

According to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), a comprehensive plan has been outlined for the upcoming election. It has been revealed that there are 97 crore registered voters, including 47.1 crore women, eligible to exercise their voting rights. Additionally, the election will witness the use of 55 lakh Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) throughout the process.

Moreover, special provisions have been made to facilitate voting for specific demographics. Individuals above 85 years of age and persons with disabilities having a 40% benchmark disability will have the option to vote from their homes. While this option was previously available in certain assembly elections, it will now be implemented nationwide for the general election, marking a significant development in electoral procedures.
