A diamond necklace valued at Rs 5 lakh was discovered in a trash bin in Chennai and successfully returned to its owner, thanks to the diligent efforts of sanitation workers.
The necklace had been accidentally discarded by a resident of the city named Devaraj. It was a special wedding gift from his mother to his daughter for an upcoming ceremony. Upon realizing his mistake, Devaraj promptly notified the authorities.
A search operation was promptly launched near the area, led by J. Anthonysamy, a driver employed by Urbaser Sumeet, the waste management company contracted by the Chennai Corporation. Senior officials supervised the recovery process.
Following a thorough search, the necklace was found tangled with a garland inside one of the waste bins.
Devaraj expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Anthonysamy and the entire garbage collection team for their quick response and assistance in recovering the precious necklace.
