West Bengal: Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee has announced Rs 5 lakh each for the families of two victims of police firing in Mangaluru CAA protest, on Thursday, December 26.

Addressing a public rally against the CAA-NRC, Mamata said that the West Bengal government would issue a cheque of Rs 5 lakh each for the victims’ families and urge the students to continue their protest against CAA and NRC, in a democratic way.

She claimed that the students who protested against CAA-NRC were threatened. For this, she has urged them to stand united.

At a protest and rally near Rajabazar to Mallick Bazar, Mamata said that she had stopped the National Population Register (NPR) from getting implemented because it asked for certificates. She has warned of a rally in Purulia on December, condemning NPR.
